Bethesda: Elder Scrolls MMO

Tom’s Guide is reporting that Bethesda has officially announced they have an Elder Scrolls MMO in the works.  There will be an official announcement in May with a strong follow-up at E3.  There are not many details as of yet, but if they learned anything from Skyrim and apply some of that to the MMO genre good things could happen.  We will all have to stay tuned.

The Avengers Official Trailer #2

The second trailer for the mega-blockbuster 2012 summer superhero blockbuster The Avengers has been released. Im pretty picky when it comes to superhero movies, and in my opinion most are total crap, but this one does look promising. If only just to see SJ in her skin-tight tech combat outfit. Check it out.

Borderlands 2: September 18th

2k games has annouced the release date of September 18th for the much anticipated RPG-Shooter Borderlands 2. I was a big fan of Borderlands and its overall style.  The one downside was that many of the guns seemed to be very similar.  I hear they are working on making the guns feel more unique, but you have to assume its quite a daunting task given how many different weapons they have in game.  Check out the new trailer with soundtrack by Nero.

Mass Effect 3 Demo

The Mass Effect 3 demo has hit the net for those that are eager to play the next installment of this highly successful RPG.  I know many people are looking forward to this title, and about as many are dreading the need to install Origin to play it.  As I have already used Origin for Battlefield 3 it’s not that big of a deal for me, but for others it may not be so easy.  There is much resistance to Origin, but resistance it futile if you wish to play this.  Bite the bullet and move on.

Grab it here.

‘Game of Thrones’ season 2 trailer

HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ is set to make a strong showing in its second season.  The sneak preview trailer that was shown late last year was a great teaser and did little to help quench the thirst for more episodes of this amazing series.  The new trailer just released only makes the wait that much more unbearable.

Check out the new trailer.  WARNING: Contains some season 1 spoilers.

Steam coming to iOS and Android

Mobile access to everything is the sign of the times and Valve is taking a hint from Microsoft (they offer mobile access to the Xbox network) and is now offering Steam access to the mobile market.  The Steam app in its current closed beta form is available on iOS and Android devices.  This is great news for those that are heavily invested into Steam and use it as a primary means to keep in contact with fellow games.  It’s literally the only chat client I use anymore.  MSN, Yahoo chat have been replaced by Facebook to many.

Download, install, and log in to get the process started on receiving an invite to the beta.

It can be found here.

Blizzcon Canceled for 2012

It looks like Blizzard is too busy this year working on their slew of AAA titles that they have decided to cancel the 2012 edition of Blizzcon.  I have never been to Blizzcon, but I keep up with the news and events surrounding their annual convention.  Penny Arcade Expo is still the best convention there is in my opinion… There I said it.

We’re excited to be showcasing Blizzard eSports on a truly global stage this year. We’re also heavily focused on getting Diablo IIIMists of Pandaria, and Heart of the Swarm into players’ hands as soon as possibleIn light of our jam-packed schedule, we’ve decided to hold the next BlizzCon in 2013.

Mass Effect 3 will be tied to Origin

I recently came across some information on the Bioware forums that says that the upcoming RPG Mass Effect 3 will be tied to Origin and not be available on Steam. I knew it was only a matter of time until more titles start moving over to their own digital distribution channels. I know many gamers are going to be disappointed that they will have to install Origin to play this, but its a sign of the times so its suggested people get used to it. Ive already got BF3 and SWTOR on Origin so it’s not that big of a deal for me, but I know a few people who will be very resistant. All things said, Origin is better than it was at launch, but still a long ways away from being at the same level as Steam. Check out the forum post for the juicy details and let me know what you think.

Samsung Transparent Window from CES 2012

There were plenty of tablets, TVs, smart phones, and the occasional robot at CES this year, but few things look as cool as this transparent window from Samsung.  I’m sure it will be a while before something like this starts making appearances in the real world, but either way its pretty neat.  Take a look and tell me what you think.

Diablo 3 on consoles?

There have been rumors flying around for a while now in regards to Blizzard’s Diablo III coming to the world of consoles.  Well things are looking good for those console gamers out there as it appears that a console version is indeed on the way.

A Twitter exchange between a fan and the community manager at Blizzard has confirmed the console version is being worked on.  Check out the article over at Ars Technica for a few additional details.
